Please watch/listen to the above videos as Dr. Jeffrey Rubin’s invitations to the new course on Dream Play, the Ullman’s Approach.
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Dreaming is central to life and a quintessentially human capacity. Dreams reveal where we are struggling and how we might be set free. They provide guidance and direction and help us cope with embodied existence.
Dreams speak in a different language than the one that dominates our ordinary lives. In our previous five-week intensive course with Dr. Rubin, we explored several creative and suggestive approaches to dream work including Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, and Monte Ullman, who have greatly enriched our understanding of, and ability to decipher, this foreign language. Each class will consist of meditation practice, intensive study of a dream, discussion of assigned readings, and group process.
This new, experiential, course will be focusing on utilizing Dr. Monte Ullman’s unique approach to group (and individual) dream work. Although suggested readings will be provided, they will be used as one’s resources rather than a mandatory reading list.
LEARNING POINTS:
At the end of this educational activity, its participants will be able to:
Assess and analyze the value of dreams and the unique contribution of Freud, Jung, Ullman;
Interpret and amplify dreams
Analyze the creativity and metaphors in dreams.
Emphasize that the ultimate authority for the meaning of the dream is the dreamer.
Apply the dreamwork in clinical practice.
Apply the dreamwork in forming of dream groups using the Ullman technique.
Apply the dreamwork and the new understanding of dreams of their subject’s dreams – in writing psychobiographies.
