COURSE DESCRIPTION:

Dreams are the Royal Road to the Unconscious.  This course traces the route on the royal road from the vicissitudes of instinctual wishes and mobile cathexes to spaces  inner and outer reality, in which dream-life thrives and withers.
Utilizing Freud’s own work, the Klein-Bion expansion of Freud’s metatheory, and Donald Meltzer’s self-described re-examination of Freud’s theory and technique as seeing dreams as unconscious thinking and the generative theatre of meaning, this course will travel the royal road, as well as some off-trek routes to the unconscious.
